Beginning with the Class of 2020, the Department of Higher Education & Workforce Development (DHEWD) waived the math requirement as a criterion to determine A+ Scholarship eligibility on a year-by-year basis. The Class of 2020, 2021, and 2022 were not required to have a qualifying score on the Algebra I EOC or the ACT Math subtest to be eligible.
In a status update released on January 9, 2023, DHEWD stated the waiver would not be extended for the Class of 2023.
A majority of the LRHS seniors with a signed contract in the A+ Program have met the math requirement.
However, those seniors hoping to use the scholarship to attend public community colleges or vocational/technical schools still have time to qualify if they have not earned an “Advanced” or “Proficient” on the Algebra I EOC or have an ACT Math subscore of 15 or higher.
Seniors may want to consider signing up for the April or June ACT.
If a student wants to check on their A+ status, please see the LRHS A+ Coordinator, Sam Wutke.
