Stokes attends FCCLA National Competition

Stokes Represents School at FCCLA National Leadership Conference
Incoming junior Abigayle Stokes recently represented her school and community at the FCCLA National Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida. Competing in STAR Events (Students Taking Action with Recognition) in the category of Sports Nutrition Level 2, Abigayle earned an impressive 5th place finish out of 80 competitors nationwide.
Beyond competition, Abigayle participated in a wide range of opportunities offered at the conference, including leadership sessions, FCCLA business meetings, networking events, and social activities. One of her favorite experiences was pin trading, where she successfully collected pins from nearly all 50 states represented at the event.
Abigayle reflected on her experience, saying:
“FCCLA National Leadership Conference was a week I will never forget. Not only did I learn valuable lessons that will help me later in life, but I also made new connections and had a blast. Competing in STAR events has been a big highlight of my sophomore year. I will continue to use my FCS skills I’ve learned this year to grow our chapter's FCCLA and bring more people to NLC next year!”
The conference also provided leadership opportunities for advisers. Serving as question master for the LifeSmarts Knowledge Bowl competition, the chapter adviser also attended professional development sessions and delivered a “Red Talk” presentation titled “Dare to Dream: Embracing Leadership and Achieving Your Goals.”
This year’s National Leadership Conference was both a celebration of student achievement and a chance for members and advisers alike to grow as leaders. With experiences like these, Abigayle and her chapter are looking forward to an exciting year ahead.
